What Do We Know about Being “Created in the Image of God”?
Moses 2:27: “I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of mine Only Begotten created I him; male and female created I them.”
President Gordon B. Hinckley (1910–2008): “Our bodies are sacred. They were created in the image of God. They are marvelous, the crowning creation of Deity. No camera has ever matched the wonder of the human eye. No pump was ever built that could run so long and carry such heavy duty as the human heart. The ear and the brain constitute a miracle. … These, with others of our parts and organs, represent the divine, omnipotent genius of God” (“Be Ye Clean,” Ensign, May 1996, 48).
President Thomas S. Monson: “God our Father has ears with which to hear our prayers. He has eyes with which to see our actions. He has a mouth with which to speak to us. He has a heart with which to feel compassion and love. He is real. He is living. We are his children made in his image. We look like him and he looks like us” (“I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” Tambuli, Apr. 1988, 6; Ensign, Apr. 1990, 6).
How Does Knowing I Am Created in God’s Image Make a Difference in My Life?
"Knowing I am created in the image of God gives me a sense of great worth. It helps me to want to be a better person and to live up to my divine potential. It allows me to feel a more personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. I know he knows me individually just as he knows you. When I pray, I pray to a God who looks like me, talks like me, who is like me, only he is perfect and filled with Glory. He is my Father and I am his child. Two Defining Truths

Two truths that distinguish us from other Christians is our view of the Godhead and our claim to continuing revelation.

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. (Article of Faith 1)

We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. (Article of Faith 9)

Coming Unto Christ

When I was 8 my Grandparents, both members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave me my first copy of the scriptures with their picture and testimony pasted to the first page. At the time I new very little of Jesus Christ or any church, but I felt something real when I flipped through the pages, and at a young age I knew this was a special book.

When I was 9 my parents decided we should begin attending a church. My Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but had not been to church in many years and my Dad as I understand was raised without any specific religion. Our church attendance began at a Presbyterian church, but when it was all said and done we ended up at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Two sister missionaries shared with us the Gospel of Jesus Christ and My Dad, my older sister, and I were baptized while my Mom regained full activity in the church. My Mom later shared with me that after attending other churches she knew this was were we needed to be. I am grateful for that choice.

My family was actively involved in the church from then on, but it wasn't until I was 17 that I allowed the teachings and commandments to take full affect in my life. At this time I felt for the first time the blessings that come from repenting and coming unto Christ. And I know The Church of Jesus Christ is true, that Our Savior Jesus Christ is real, that we have a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers our prayers, and many other truths that I hope to share with you as I continue this blog.
